At Victory, every lesson is built on clear routines, engaging teaching, and high expectations so that all children can focus, feel confident, and make excellent progress, preparing them for future success beyond school. Our teaching aims to inspire curiosity, build strong knowledge, and develop the skills students need to achieve both their academic and wider social and emotional potential, irrespective of any barriers.
These 6 elements of pedagogy are well researched as being fundamental to pupils learning.
Strong Routines for Attention mean a clear and consistent classroom, helping children feel secure and ready to learn, ensuring that precious lesson time is used for learning rather than settling.
Knowledge Recall means regularly revisiting what has been learned helps children remember more over time and connect new ideas to what they already know, building what we phrase a ‘mental model’.
High-Quality Questioning means asking the right questions in the right way, encouraging children to think deeply, share their ideas, and build confidence in expressing themselves.
Modelling of New Concepts means showing exactly what success looks like, teachers make new learning clearer and easier for children to understand and use.
Checking for Understanding means frequent checks during lessons so teachers can spot misunderstandings early and give the right support straight away.
Independent Practice means opportunities to practice, on their own, the application of new knowledge, building confidence and independence in their learning.
